The FCC officially removed the Fairness Doctrine from the books on Monday.
According to a Washington Post article published yesterday, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski said he opposed the rule, which he said was unnecessary. “The elimination of the obsolete Fairness Doctrine regulations will remove an unnecessary distraction,” Genachowski said in a statement.
